A Taupo Staffordshire bull terrier has been rescued after falling 25 metres down a cliff.
Gus was out walking with his owner when he fell down a ravine in Owen Delany Park on Monday.
A Civil Defence Emergency team abseiled down the cliff, thick with blackberry, to rescue Gus.
Civil Defence Emergency Management Officer Roger Nelson says they put Gus in a sling and winched him up.
"By all accounts he'd been down there for quite a number of hours, and there was no water or anything down so he was pretty thirsty and pretty tired," he says.
"He was very happy to see us."
