A British woman took advice from a viral post that claimed the secret to getting an even all-over glow, is to apply fake tan with a paint roller.

But it had less than desirable results.

A picture of the disastrous tanning has been liked nearly 40,000 times on the social media site.

The woman left so dark, she says she was left the same colour "as a dining table".
