The Diwali Festival grows every year, and it kicks off again today at midday in central Auckland.
Part of Queen Street and Aotea Square will be closed off for the event.
Producer Eric Ngan expects more than 30,000 people over the course of the weekend.
"It does grow year on year and also the mix changes. There's been a really strong mix obviously from the Indian community but more and more non-Indians are coming too which is really cool."
Festivities kick off at midday and continue until tomorrow night, culminating in a huge fireworks display at the Aotea Centre.
Mr Ngan says there are detours in place for drivers.
"We've got road control all around the area with vehicle signs plus staff to help people get around."
