American comedian Chris Rock opened the Oscars by targeting the racial controversy surrounding the 88th Academy Awards head on.

Some African American actors and actresses are boycotted the occasion, because of the lack of black nominees.
Rock quickly addressed the issue, branding this year's Oscars the "White People's Choice Awards".
