Less than a week after Luke Perry's death, Beverly Hills 90210 fans are mourning the loss of another cast member from the hit 90s show.

Jed Allan, who starred in daytime soaps including Days of Our Lives and Santa Barbara and played the recurring role of Rush Sanders on Beverly Hills 90210, has died aged 84.

Fans were alerted to Allan's death when his son Rick posted an emotional tribute on Facebook on Saturday night.

"So sorry to post the very sad news of my father's passing tonight," he said.

"He died peacefully and was surrounded by his family and loved so much by us and so many others."

Born in 1935, Allan's first soap roles arrived in 1964 when he played both Ace Hubbard and Paul Britton in Love of Life and Secret Storm.

He joined Days of Our Lives as lawyer Don Craig in 1971, a role that earned him an Emmy nomination for outstanding actor in 1979, before he left the show in 1985.

From 1988-1993, Allan found a home on Santa Barbara, playing the role of C.C. Capwell, patriarch of the Capwell clan.

He changed postcodes in 1990 to join the cast of Beverly Hills 90210, and later had guest spots on series including Adam-12, CSI: Miami, Six Feet Under, and The Streets of San Francisco.

Allan is survived by three sons, Rick, Mitch, and Dean.
