A scrub fire near train lines in west Auckland is now under control, after it forced the closure of the tracks this afternoon.

Trains couldn't run between the Ranui and Sturges Road train stations in Henderson for about an hour, as six fire trucks battled three different fires over about 100 metres of scrub.

At one point some houses were threatened, but firefighters were able to get the flames under control.

The lines have now been reopened and trains are running as normal.
