A truck and van have collided on West Coast Road in the Christchurch suburb of Yaldhurst, taking out a power pole.
Road blocks are in place at the intersection of West Coast Road and Old West Coast Road and also at Hasketts Road and West Coast Road.
Police ask motorists to avoid the area as roads will be blocked for some time until the power lines are made safe.
