Updated 12.20pm: It's been a busy morning for search and rescue teams in the South Island.

So far they've rescued an injured tramper from the Nelson Lakes National Park, retrieved an unwell elderly man from a cruise ship in the Milford sounds and are continuing to scour Fiordland for a missing German tramper.

The injured tramper, a woman in her sixties, has been taken to Nelson hospital where's she's being treated for an injured hip.

The elderly man, who'd fallen ill late yesterday, while onboard the Marina, is being treated in Dunedin hospital.

Search and Rescue teams are scanning the Manapouri Hope Arm area in Fiordland to try and track down a missing tramper.

The 25-year-old German woman was dropped off by water taxi to the area yesterday morning, but never made her return trip.

She was last seen wearing dark clothing and a small day pack.

A helicopter using night vision searched for the woman last night, but Southern Lakes Helicopter says they're yet to hear whether they'll be needed again today.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Te Anau police.
