One person has had to be rescued from an apartment block roof after the building caught fire in Christchurch this morning.
Four fire crews were called to the building on Salisbury Street just before 7am to find one apartment completely engulfed in flames.
The fire service's still in attendance and Salisbury Street between Park Terrace and Montreal Street is closed.
