A person is dead after a car and a motorbike collided in Hamilton.

Fire communications shift manager Megan Ruru said the person died following the crash on Greenwood Street, outside Burger King.

Witnesses reported seeing a person covered in a white sheet on the road.

Greenwood Street has since been closed.

In a separate incident, one person is dead after a car with trailer and motorbike crashed five kilometres north of Eketahuna, police say.

Diversions are in place at Bridge Street at the south end of the town and North Street.

The serious crash unit is on its way to the scene.
