A factory building in a rural South Island town has gone up in flames.
Emergency services are at the scene on Old Wharf Rd, Motueka where the building is ablaze.
The 11m by 20m structure is believed to be the Motueka Abel Glass factory.
Southern fire communications shift manager Tim Reynolds said the fire was “well involved” in the building.
“There have been no reports of anybody inside the building.”
He said nine appliances were either at the scene or on their way to the scene.
