The computer suite in the old Whakatane Hospital building is on fire.
A fire north communications spokesperson says they were alerted to the blaze in the Stanton building on Garaway Street around 10:30 today.
The building's been evacuated, and four fire trucks are at the scene.
There are no reports of injuries at this stage.
