There has been an accident on State Highway One at Te Horo on the Kapiti Coast just south of the intersection with Te Hapua Road.
Two cars were involved and occupants received moderate injuries.
Police are warning there will be delays as they do not have the ability to divert traffic.
They are unsure when the backlog will be cleared.
