UPDATED 4.42pm: Â A Dutch tourist has been rescued from Mount Taranaki, after being holed up in a hut since Thursday.
Taranaki Alpine Cliff Rescue team member Mike Johns said the 29-year-old man had climbed Syme Hut and spent Thursday night there.
He said when he woke the next morning the weather had turned nasty and he didn't have the equipment to make his way down.
Mr Johns said the tourist did the right thing in calling the police, and staying put until he was rescued.
He said he had enough food and water, and wasn't injured.
Search and rescue teams were dispatched, along with an air force helicopter.
The tourist was rescued about midday today.
