
Updated 2:05pm: A move in the decile ratings will mean an adjustment of budgets for the country's schools.
The Ministry of Education is briefing schools over the next ten days, over the latest update to decile funding.
Katrina Casey from the Ministry of Education says schools that have moved to a higher ranking, will see a funding decline over the next 18 months.
She says it is about fairness, but it will be a real adjustment for some schools.
Schools that have moved to a lower decile will receive extra funding from January.
A new analysis of low decile schools shows a rapid decline in their Pakeha and Asian students.
Changes aplenty for decile ratingsÂ
Plenty of changes, from the latest round of decile ratings for New Zealand's schools.
About a third have moved to lower rankings, a third have moved to higher rankings, and a third have remained unchanged.
Katrina Casey from the Ministry of Education says it's a reflection of social changes over the last seven years.
"It is seven years since the last census so there will of been several changes over that period."
A new analysis shows low decile schools have fewer Pakeha and Asian students than ever before.
At some decile one Auckland schools, they make up less than 15 percent of the roll.
