Lincoln University's hosting an event to inform students about sexual violence, a week after a teenager was charged with sexual assault on campus.

The 18-year-old man was arrested on Friday after the alleged attack on a woman last Tuesday in a hall of residence.

The LUSA President Danyon Thomas said the 'In Our Words' report will be presented at Lincoln this Friday .

Its survey research covers sexual violence in all New Zealand tertiary institutions.

Thomas said the event will inform students about how to prevent sexual violence both at a national level and local level.

"Talking specifically in the Lincoln context about what are some of the things that we can be doing and implementing, making sure we can improve their culture."

Thomas insists that students haven't come to the Association with worries and that the allegations don't appear to be causing significant concern.

Thomas said the Association has an advocate who can be approached by students if they have safety and welfare concerns.

"We're very conscious that the victim has been provided with a lot of support at the moment. So we haven't approached her directly but she is aware that the service is available as well as all the other students who live in the halls."

The University's conducting it's own investigation, alongside the Police case.
