The modern classroom will be the focus, of a gathering of teachers in Rotorua over the next three days.

Ulearn is the country's largest teaching conference, and is organised by non-profit consultancy group Core Education.

E-learning director Derek Wenmoth says it's about modern learning environments, practices and technology.

"The shape and nature of the new buildings and structures we're creating, what's happening in those, the changing roles of teachers."

The conference will international experts, on the way teachers connect with students.
