A Waikato school will be the 1000th school to be connected to fast internet.

Stanley Avenue School in Te Aroha is being connected to the government's Managed Network.

The government has invested $211 million in the scheme that provides quick, uncapped internet access.

Associate Education Minister Nikki Kaye says 40 percent of schools in New Zealand are now connected to the network.

She says providing high quality, high speed internet will help ensure every student benefits from technology.
