Primary school principals and teachers have overwhelmingly voted in favour of national rolling strikes in the week starting November 12.

The rolling strikes follow a national strike on August 15, and members' rejection of a second offer by the Ministry in late September.

NZEI Principals' lead negotiator Louise Green said the unprecedented level of industrial action by primary teachers and principals shows the severity of the crisis in our schools.

NZEI President Lynda Stuart says while strikes will go ahead “they have agreed to continue to try to seek a resolution.’’

They say they'll refer the collective bargaining to the Employment Relations Authority for urgent facilitation.”

The strikes will start in the wider Auckland region on Monday the 12 the of November, spread to the rest of the North Island (except Auckland and Wellington) on the 1th of November

The Christchurch region on Wednesday the 14 of November, the rest of the South Island on the 15the of November and the wider Wellington region on Friday the 16th.
