
Tourism Dunedin believes more needs to be done to attract big hotel chains to the city.
This comes in the Council Controlled Organisation's yearly report to the Dunedin City Council.
And only months after a Betterways Limited scrapped a proposal to build a $100 million waterfront hotel in the city.
In its report, Tourism Dunedin told council hotel occupancy rates have benefited from the increase in business events.
It says now would be a good time for the city to consider attracting a hotel brand of international standing to the city.
