A well-known New Zealander accused of sexually abusing a male has appeared in the North Shore District Court this morning.
He’s been remanded until his next appearance on November 11.
The man, who the Herald is not naming for legal reasons, is facing one charge of indecent assault.
The man was remanded in custody.
He was due to have his first appearance in the North Shore District Court last week, but Auckland District Court workers told the Herald the hearing had been rescheduled.
The alleged offending is historic in nature and relates to one victim.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment.
A police spokesperson earlier said the complainant was a male aged over 16.
As the matter was before the courts, the spokesperson said police were limited in providing further comment.
