A ram raid at a Napier liquor store has landed two youths in custody, and police searching for two others.
The Kennedy Rd store was targeted about 11.50pm on Saturday, Inspector Dean Clifford, of Hawke’s Bay Police, said.
Clifford said a four-wheel-drive was used to gain entry, causing considerable damage to the building.
The ram raiders then fled the scene with boxes of alcohol, before police later found a stolen vehicle of interest on Marine Parade, he said.
Clifford said the vehicle failed to stop when signalled, but police successfully spiked the car on Kennedy Rd.
A short time later, police took two of the alleged offenders into custody. They are expected to appear in the Napier Youth Court today.
Clifford said police had offered support to the store owner, who is having to deal with needless damage to their business.
“We are following a number of lines of inquiry to locate the outstanding suspects.”
