A European tourist and his partner are shaken up after a violent key snatching incident on the West Coast.
After a minor traffic incident a European tourist had his key snapped, was abused and punched in the face outside the Australasian Hotel in Greymouth.
Constable Damon Monks says the attack has left the tourists feeling wary.
"He was uninjured however he sustained minor bruising to his right eye. Both were very shaken and scared after the incident."
Constable Damon Monks says vigilante actions like this will no be tolerated.
He says this isn't a good look for the West Coast or New Zealand.
