Police in West Auckland have received dozens of calls in relation to the abduction and sexual assault of an 11-year-old boy in the Ranui area, which happened on Thursday afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant Jason McIntosh said police are grateful to the community for contacting them with valuable information, which they're following up on.
He said they're also reviewing CCTV footage.
Jason McIntosh said police and partner agencies are continuing to support the boy and his family.
However, due to the nature of the incident, he said officers won't be in a position to speak with the boy until the middle of next week.
Police will be doing additional patrols in the area over the next few days.
They are still wanting to hear from anyone who may have seen a grey van, between about 3.55 and 8 on Thursday night.
