A Porirua store manager has injuries to his face after being punched to the ground in a Christmas Eve robbery.

A man entered the Mungavin Ave store around 2pm on Sunday and knocked the attendant down, behind the counter.

He made off with a haul of cash.

Police have released a picture of the offender, who was wearing a red t-shirt and black jeans with a red bandana tucked in to the waistline.

He has a number of tattoos on his arms, and curly hair.

The victim suffered injuries to his face and police are seeking information from the public.
