Dramatic footage of an Auckland ram raid has been released by police.
Three cars and up to 10 people were involved in the raid at the Z service station in Kumeu at 3.30am yesterday.
One vehicle reversed into the glass doors before robbers entered and stole what police described as a “large amount” of cigarettes and cash.
The lone worker on duty took shelter in the back room and was not injured, Z spokesman Jonathan Hill said.
"We offer counselling services to our staff when something as traumatic like this happens."
Detective Debra Brewer said police hope the CCTV footage will help identify the raiders.
“Most of those involved have concealed their faces but there is one whose face we can clearly see. We ask anyone who may know who these people are to please come forward.”
Ram raids were not common but had been happening more frequently, Mr Hill said.
