Police have seized a van thought to be linked to the killing of Lower Hutt man Matthew Stevens.

Mr Stevens' body was found next to his car on Paekakariki Hill Road on Friday the 28th of November.

Police are asking for sightings of the 1994 blue Toyota Hiace from the Thursday night before, to the morning the body was found.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Sears says police believe the van's been at the Oxford Terrace property at the centre of their investigation.

He says it's a typical tradesmen style van with seats in the front, and shelving in the back - with distinctive factory fitted wheels on the front and smaller grey ones on the back.
