A man has been seriously injured in a shooting at the One33 Vincent adult entertainment club in Auckland’s CBD.

Police were called at 1.57am to reports of a man with a gunshot wound at the club.

Armed police arrived at the scene on Vincent St around 2am, followed by a St John ambulance. A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition, police said.

The entrance of One33 remains cordoned off by armed police and Auckland City police detectives are at the scene.

A scene guard remains in place.

Detective Inspector Chris Barry of Auckland City CIB said police enquiries were continuing.

“Police are working to establish the exact circumstances leading to the man’s injuries and would like to hear from anyone who has information which could assist our enquiries.

“While the investigation is still in the early stages, we believe this is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

“Police are working hard to identify those responsible and hold them to account.”

A passing resident told NZME the level of crime in the area was “out of control”.

The man said that ever since the introduction of emergency housing the city had been “flooded with crime”.

“It’s every day, day after day - shooting, stabbings, murders,” he said.

“It doesn’t surprise me any more - when I hear stuff.”

Police asked anyone with information to call police via 105, referencing job number P056268687.

Information could also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
