Mother of parolled murderer's victim concerned

There are fears a convicted murderer who's been released on parole will offend again.

Nicholas Hawker was jailed in 1997 for the murder of schoolgirl Vanessa Woodman.

He was previously allowed out on parole in 2011, but recalled a few months later.

Vanessa Woodman's mother Leigh says the fact he had to be recalled shows he has absolute contempt for the Parole Board.

"What sort of safe can you put on someone like that. How many people or how many times are people going to get chances and opportunities like this before they say enough's enough."

Hawker has been released under strict conditions, but Leigh Woodman believes he should have to wear a GPS tracker.

"He's never going to do a life sentence, very few people are going to have to actually spend their life in prison, so if he is released they should acknowledge how dangerous he is by at least putting a GPS on him, yes."
