A man is in a serious condition after being stabbed in the chest in Northland.
The incident happened at a house in Awanui near Kaitaia, just after midnight.
The man has been taken to Northland Base Hospital.
A woman is talking to police in Kaitaia about what happened and a scene investigation is underway.
