A man accused of stabbing his wife to death and attempting to murder his stepdaughter and her boyfriend has appeared in the North Shore District Court.

Brent Scott is accused of the murder of Heidi Welman-Scott, and attempting to kill Taryn Welman, and her boyfriend Matija Miletic, in Albany yesterday morning.

He faces another charge but details of this were suppressed by Community Magistrate Dianne Hale.

He appeared in court wearing prison issue blue overalls.

Scott was remanded in custody by consent and will next appear at the High Court in Auckland next month.
