Rhys Warren has started his cross examination of the Armed Offenders Squad Officer he's alleged to have shot in the head last year.
Warren is defending himself in the High Court at Hamilton against multiple charges of attempted murder, firing at police officers and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Constable Regan Mauheni is currently giving evidence about the siege neat Kawerau that put him in Auckland Hospital's brain injury unit.
After wishing him well in his recovery, Warren asked Constable Mauheni whether the actions of the AOS were trust building with the person in the house.
Constable Mauheni replied the actions were fair considering shots had been fired at officers in the vicinity.
The trial continues.
