UPDATED 3.11pm: Two young teenagers have gone on trial today, charged over the fatal stabbing of a west Auckland dairy owner.

A woman could be heard sobbing as the Crown delivered its opening statement.

Crown lawyer Kingi Snelgar has detailed a violent attack, including the three times one of the young defendants stabbed Mr Kumar.

Day one of the trial has wrapped up.

The defence will deliver its opening statements tomorrow morning.

 

Father-of-two Arun Kumar was murdered in front of his wife in the Henderson store in June last year.

It's alleged two boys, aged 14 and 13, were responsible for his death.

One is charged with murder, the other manslaughter - both have name suppression.
