Four people are in police custody after two ram raids at south Auckland service stations early this morning.

The first happened at 1.30 am when a stolen car was driving into the shop door of the Z Energy station on Mount Wellington Highway.

Three people from the car forced their way into the shop and stole drinks and confectionary.

The shop assistant, who fled to a back room during the attack was uninjured.

About half an hour later the same group made a similar raid on the Challenge station on Station Road in Papatoetoe.

Police spotted and chased the car till it crashed into and destroyed a phone box, the occupants were uninjured and have been arrested.
