The Dunedin City Council has canned a contract it had with a leading Black Power gang member to maintain green spaces around the city.
The contractor Albert Epere is expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow morning, after two incidents over the last few days.
The 52-thousand-dollar contract was initially suspended on Monday.
The suspension will remain in place while court proceedings and an internal investigation take place.
CEO Dr Sue Bidrose said the council has a commitment to social procurement, but it's a two-way street.
She said this requires them to meet certain standards.
