The director of a Wellington-based immigration agency found to have exploited migrant workers in a scam has been sentenced to 10 months home detention.
Jenny Zhang has also been ordered to pay 30,000 dollars in reparation and do 300 hours community service, after she exploited Chinese chefs she helped bring into the country.
The chefs were paid less than minimum wage, put in poor working conditions and put in jobs which contravened their visas.
Two other people will be sentenced tomorrow in relation to the case, and another will be sentenced on December 10.
A fifth person was fined 20,100 dollars last year after pleading guilty to exploitation charges.
