A dairy farmer who shot a cow in the leg, dumped another live cow in an offal pit and broke the tails of hundreds of others has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges.Â
The incidents happened while Michael Whitelock managed a dairy unit on a Landcorp farm at Cape Foulwind.
The Greymouth District Court was told he beat a number of cows, broke the tails of over 200 animals and failed to provide adequate treatment for their injuries.
Whitelock's been remanded on bail for sentencing in October.
