The Crown has signalled it will seek a sentence of Preventive Detention, when Blessie Gotingco's killer comes before the High Court at Auckland today.
Tony Robertson was found guilty of running Mrs Gotingco down just metres from her home last year, then taking her to his house where he raped and murdered her.
He was under special supervision at the time, after being released from prison for sexual offending against children.
A sentence of PD means a prisoner is only released when they're no longer considered a risk to the community.
