Two separate assaults in Christchurch, one of them a stabbing, are believed to be linked.

On Wednesday, March 18, about 9.30pm, a person was assaulted on Colombo St, south of Fisher Ave, in Sydenham.

Less than an hour later, about 10.15pm, police responded to reports of a stabbing nearby at Bradford Park.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and was discharged shortly afterwards.

Police said they believed the two incidents were linked and were working to identify and speak with the victim of the Colombo St incident.

They said the person might have information that could assist in the investigation.

“Additionally, police would like to hear from anyone who was in the Bradford Park or Colombo St areas between 9pm and 10.15pm on Wednesday, March 18,” police said in a statement.

“This includes anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via 105, either by phone or online, using reference file number 260319/6021.

Information can also be provided anonymously by phoning Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
