Two women have been sentenced to prison for stripping property from Christchurch holiday homes.

36 year old Terangi Jury and 31 year old Samadhi Lucas pleaded guilty in May to burglary and receiving stolen property.

More than $40,000 worth of property was stolen from seven short-term holiday homes - booked online with stolen credit cards.

In sentencing, Judge Jane Farish says insurance companies will bear the brunt of their actions.

Lucas was sentenced to two years and six months imprisonment, and ordered to pay $1463 reparation.

Jury was given two years three months imprisonment and ordered to pay $3175 reparation.
