The social media campaign that went viral following the Sydney siege is being recreated in Christchurch.
Australia's "I'll ride with you" campaign harnessed a show of support for the Muslim community, amid concerns of a racial backlash.
New Brighton's "I'll walk with you" sends a similar message of support, only this time it's for anxious residents who don't want to walk alone in the seaside suburb.
Founder Kirsty McMillan says the service will provide walking partners for residents.
But there's one thing she wants to make clear.
"New Brighton is not an unsafe community. We're a very community focused community. People shouldn't be feeling this is a response to an unsafe community."
