The trains are back on track at the Christchurch's Heritage Park.
About $10,000 worth of signal relays, transformers and cables were stolen from the park last month, meaning that the historic steam engines at the park could no longer operate due to safety concerns.
The staff have worked hard to get the park's level crossing system.
Ferrymead Heritage Park general manager Jason Harris says that their effort means the the trains will be back up and running this weekend.
"Have managed to get some temporary safety precautions put in place and approved, so they will be up and running."
Harris says it's good news because they are a big draw card for the park.
However, the Canterbury Railway Society says it will be several months before the level crossing is fully operational again.
