Orion's 45-million-dollar-project to power up northern Christchurch is underway.

Work's begun on a high voltage underground cable loop around north Christchurch, providing extra electrical capacity as well as strengthening the city's power network.

Orion CEO Rob Jamieson says northern Christchurch's rapidly growing and it's essential they supply new and existing residents with secure electricity.
