There’s been no consultation with Christchurch City Council in the making of a bill looking to fast track the Christchurch Cathedral rebuild.
It’s come to light as council representatives speak to the Christchurch Cathedral Reinstatement Bill committee this afternoon.
Council solicitor Ian Thomson told the committee as it stands, the bill has the potential to affect council-owned land, because it’s dubbed ‘the Cathedral area’.
It includes the road used by the city's tram.
He also said they only found out about the committee hearing when they saw it in the media last week.
"We would just hope that as we move forward with this bill, assuming it goes all the way, that there is more of an effort to consult with us."
Christchurch City Councillors will discuss council's contribution of $10 million towards the rebuild on Thursday.
