Those affected by yesterday's Northwood explosion are being advised to contact their insurers.

The explosion on Marble Court is thought to be from gas.

Insurance Council chief executive Tim Grafton says insurers will be able to provide people with advice around keeping safe over the next few days.

He says those with damage should take photos of it to help resolve insurance claims more quickly.

Insurance company IAG will continue to work with customers in the Northwood area over the weekend.

An IAG spokesperson says they are proactively contacting customers in the area.

She says loss adjusters, builders and glaziers are on standby and ready to go as soon as they have claim details and access to properties.
