UPDATED 9.50PM:Â A grass fire on a hillside near properties in Christchurch has been contained.
Four fire trucks and a water tanker are attending the blaze that covered nearly 2,000 square metres of land in the suburbs of Richmond Hill and Sumner.
Crews from Sumner, Woolston, Lyttelton and Christchurch City were called to the scene around 9pm.
A fire service spokesman said they don't know the cause of the blaze.
