An expected wind change won't be helping the fire containment efforts near Rangiora today.

Fire crews have been battling two blazes, the Dunlops Road fire and the Diaken fire, since yesterday.

The Dunlops Road fire is estimated to have burned through around 93 hectares of vegetation while the Diakens fire has burnt approximately 12 hectares.

While the flames aren't growing, Fire and Emergency says they don't considered them to be under control and a change in the wind is only going to complicate matters.

The focus is strengthening containment lines in preparation for the south west wind change sometime after 4pm this afternoon.

No properties are in danger but the situation remains high risk and Fire and Emergency urges people to stay away.

Around 96 fire personnel are attending the fires with three helicopters in residence.
