Nervous, angry and fearful.

An elderly Christchurch couple say they have been forced into a life they weren’t ready for, after a violent home invasion.

Two women barged into 83-year-old John McCammon and his 81-year old wife Colleen’s home of thirty years back in August, pinning John to the ground and threatening to stab him.

Today in the Christchurch District Court, Judge Paul Kellar sentenced 38-year-old Shantai Lawson to five and a half years imprisonment.

He says she has destroyed the couple’s peaceful life, and no one listening to the victim impact statements could help being moved.

39-year-old Maera Todd was earlier sentenced to seven-years and four-months imprisonment.
