Christchurch is preparing for a magical milestone tomorrow.

The city's wizard is celebrating his 182nd birthday at the Tannery in Woolston.

The public's invited to join a mystical line up of fairies, wizards, morris dancers and fireworks in the afternoon.

Tannery owner Alasdair Cassels says they're honoured to host the wizard's big day.

"Bilbo Baggins will be there.

"I'm not sure about Father Christmas, he could be there.

"It is fitting, I think, that when a wizard gets as old as he has, that we have a fairly large occasion to celebrate his birthday."
