A Christchurch tertiary provider is blaming Government changes for its demise.
Avonmore Tertiary Institute has been teaching courses like hairdressing, IT, hospitality and tourism for 30 years.
It's appointed a liquidator and is working with NZQA so students can complete their studies.
Major factors in the decision for going into voluntary liquidation included the governments free fee scheme which made students apply for more expensive programmes, the loss of the international student market due to changes in immigration and recent talk of apprenticeship training which could drive students away from studying.
About 100 students will be affected at the Christchurch and Tauranga campuses.
